Breakfast & After School Clubs
St James Early Birds and After School Clubs
St James' C of E Infant and Nursery School runs a very successful Breakfast and After School clubs, which have been established for over ten years.
The Breakfast Club runs from 7.45am to 9.00am each school morning. The charge is £4.00 per session and children can be dropped off any time after 7.45am.
The After School Club runs from 3.15pm to 5.15pm. The charge is £4.00 for the first hour attended or £7.00 for up to two hours and children can be picked up at any time before 5.15pm.
Both clubs are run from the Scafell classroom and there are many activities available to the children. Games and toys are widely used but children can also do drawing, reading or watch television if they want to. The clubs also have resources for outdoor play in fine weather and many structured activities are organised for the children if they want to participate. We also understand if some children prefer some quiet time, particularly in the After School Club and space is provided for this too.
Our After School Club also incorporates the Homework Club. This is special time set aside for individual children to work with a Senior Teaching Assistant on any aspect of their homework whether this be maths games, reading or working on the computer. Homework Club places are extremely limited and must be arranged through the school office. Places in the Homework Club are offered free to children qualifying for the Pupil Premium but are also available to other children at the above rate.
For children arriving in the Breakfast Club before 8.30am, breakfast such as cereal, toast, pancakes etc. and a drink are provided.
Most parents use the clubs to fit around their work patterns, but some parents also find that the clubs are useful for “one-off” sessions too for things such as shopping trips or appointments. All children are very welcome and we often find that children who have no need to use the clubs still like to be involved now and again.
Bookings are made via the school office. Places are limited. We ask that regular bookings are made on a monthly basis, a week before the start of the month. However, any session can be booked, providing there are places available, up until 24 hours in advance. We also require 48 hours notice for cancellations. Bills are issued at the end of the month for sessions attended and are issued in an envelope which can be used to return payment. Payment should be returned to the school office or directly to the club coordinator.
Children should be brought to, and collected from, the rear exit door into Scafell. The main entrance to the school is kept locked when the clubs are in use.
We do hope that you make use of our Clubs at some point as the children really do enjoy taking part. Any enquiries can be made to the school office or to the club coordinator.
