Online Safety

The internet is an amazing tool which can provide and broaden knowledge. Online safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. We also want to help our parents and children improve their own understanding of online safety issues so they can learn to use the internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.

Keeping our children safe online or in the digital world is extremely important. We use filters in school so that the children do not access any harmful or inappropriate content whilst in school.  We do feel that it is important to teach them how to keep themselves safe online too so that they have the tools to use outside of the school environment.

Our Online Safety Policy is regularly reviewed to keep up with fast moving developments in the digital world.

Our Online Safety Governor is Steph Hetherington.

Our Curriculum

Online Safety is covered through our Computing Curriculum and through PHSE where we use Kidsafe and Heartsmart.

Additionally we utilise resources from Project Evolve.

Project EVOLVE resources each of the 330 statements from UK Council for Internet Safety's (UKCIS) framework “Education for a Connected World” with perspectives; research; activities; outcomes; supporting resources and professional development materials.

The content has been written by a team of experts at the UK Safer Internet Centre. It is up to date; relevant and engaging and moves online life education into the third decade of the 21st century.
