Welcome to Reception

P.E Day

Catbell's P.E days are Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school on these days wearing their P.E uniform and has their school water bottle.

Our school P.E uniform is plain black shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings, a gold t-shirt with school badge and plain trainers.

Home Reading Books

Please read with your child at home for 10 minutes each day to help develop their reading skills. This can include their Read Write Inc book or a story book that you read to them. Please write a comment and sign in your child's reading record when you have read with them, photograph the page and upload it on to Tapestry by Friday each week. If your child has read at least 3 times through the week, they will receive a stamp/signature in their reading record. After 6 stamps your child will receive a bronze reading certificate. This is then followed by a silver reading certificate and a gold certificate along with a book to keep.

Depending on what stage your child is working at in Read, Write Inc they will either receive a new Read, Write Inc story book or a sound blending book every Wednesday. In addition to this, extra books are available in our reading sheds in the school yard. Please help yourself and return when you have finished.

We also have a class story box that is sent home with a child on a Friday. This includes a teddy, hot chocolate and blanket to enjoy with your child as you read the story together.
